Prof. Tsim has been committed to research in the fields of cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials, development and utilization of Chinese medicine resources, development of health products for both medicinal and food purposes, and circular economic utilization of non-medicinal parts of Chinese medicines. In early 2019, when the COVID-19 epidemic was sweeping the world, Prof. Tsim founded the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine and Biotechnology Association, which is committed to combining traditional Chinese medicine theory with modern biotechnology and building bridges and platforms for industry, academia, research and government to jointly Serve the society and benefit the people.
Prof. Tsim has published over 500 scientific papers in various reputable national and international scientific journals and serves as editors for several international scientific journals. The current research focus is on studying genetic characteristics, chemical properties and geographical authenticity of Chinese medicinal herbs and mechanisms of Chinese medicines compound formulae by molecular and genetic techniques. He also serves as an consultant/member to various organisations, both nationally and internationally, in the standardisation of Chinese medicines, including: Consultant of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chinese Medicine Expert Committee, and expert of the Hong Kong Scientific Committee on Chinese Medicine Standards.”
